Milkshakes are awesome! They’re like drinkable ice cream, not quite solid, not quite liquid, but a perfect medium between the two states. Typically, I make a fair amount of smoothies because they’re generally healthier and I don’t feel so bad for indulging in them, but since Halo Top came out with their new vegan flavors, my creative chef wheels have been turning.
Vegan Halo Top is one of my top go to snacks because it really fulfills my sweet cravings, but is also so ridiculously low in calories that I don’t feel so bad for eating half a pint (or a whole pint…don’t judge, we’ve all been there). Most of the time I prefer super chocolatey ice cream, mint chip, or strawberry. I don’t really go for vanilla bases, yet I found myself over the moon when Halo Top released the new vegan birthday cake flavor. I just couldn’t resist! So, I decided to shake things up a little. The best part? You could blend up the entire pint and still have a milkshake around 300 calories.
I am a huge fan of putting in minimal effort when it comes to food. I’ll admit, I’m a little lazy that way, and honestly, who has time to spend hours in the kitchen? The awesome thing about this creation is that all you need to do is scoop the ice cream and blend it up with some vanilla soy milk. It’s seriously that easy. I used about 3/4 cup of ice cream and maybe about 1/2 cup of milk. I do recommend using a little less milk if you want a thicker shake. You might even be able to skip the milk and just give it a nice blend! It really just depends on what your desired consistency is. Mine was just thick enough to slurp up through this adorable paper unicorn straw, which I got at Target! You can get 20 of these for just $4!
Don’t forget the vegan sprinkles, of course! I also added a little spray of coconut whipped cream onto mine, though I think my can had a faulty nozzle because it stopped working. It’s probably for the best though, considering the amount of coconut whip I think is acceptable vs. what actually is acceptable.
