I may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post, but I will NEVER mention products that I don't love or believe in. Anything I earn will be used to help support this blog so I can continue to inspire all you lovely readers.
I consider myself an introverted extrovert. It’s a personality trait that makes times like these very confusing. Am I happy that I’m locked away, staring longingly at pictures of old adventures on my phone, like a millennial Rapunzel? Or am I so sad that I am missing out on social interactions like a modern day Belle, that I begin to sing songs with teacups and candelabras? Okay, I don’t have a candelabra, but YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN. Honestly, I think it depends on the day, but I wanted to share some of the things that have helped me during this pandemic. No matter which princess you relate to the most, I hope these suggestions will make you feel less like an isolated beast and more like the Queen of Quarantine.
Send Yourself Gifts š¦
Oh, a present for me? What a surprise! I totally never saw that coming! Wow. Thanks self! (I’ve discovered that it’s okay to talk to yourself, especially during a pandemic… we’re all doing it! Right?) Seriously though, there are so many amazing, reasonably priced subscription boxes out there. My absolute favorite is Goddess Provisions! Each month’s box is full of treasures to ālight up your soulā. They always send a crystal and plenty of other items to help you work on your ~spiritual practices~! This monthās box was MUCH needed.
Feel free to use my referral link if you’d like! I’m not a sponsor or anything, it’s just a friend referral link that helps me work towards free boxes. That’sĀ something you can also do when you sign up as a member. It could be a really great way to keep up with friends during this crazy time!
Eat Well š„
Have you ever tried Purple Carrot? If the answer is no, right click here and open this beautiful site in a new tab for after you finish this post. Purple Carrot is one of the best things Iāve ever spent money on. Itās a plant-based meal kit delivery service that seriously delivers. More often than not, Iād rather make a purple carrot meal than eat out. Thatās saying something because I really LOVE eating out. Food tastes better when other people make it, right? (Is that just me?) š Seriously though, PC meals are above and beyond restaurant quality, and it gives you the opportunity to learn creative, exciting new recipes! One of my PC faves is the Okonomiyaki with BBQ Sauce & Sesame Edamame. Not into delicious savory Japanese panckaes? I also still dreaming about the Barbecue Seitan with Fusilli Pasta Salad that we got in a box last year.
There are also some really amazing benefits to eating this plant-based meal kit! Eating plants is better for animals, better for the environment, and better for YOU!Ā
Make Your Nose Happier š
I get so much enjoyment out of freshening my space up with a new scent. Recently, I bought this whimsical little Opalhouse Cactus Diffuser, and I šAM šOBSESSEDš. I love mood boosting scents like wild orange, or calming scents like lavender. A good blend is always nice, too! Just make sure to check a reputable source to see if the oil or scent is okay to diffuse around the animals you share your home with! š
Inspirational Display āØ
Find some things that inspire you, and put them up around the house! I have a small floating shelf by my vanity mirror that I like to use as a creative ~altar~ of sorts. I swap the items out every so often, just to refresh my little space. Right now I have a money tree, some crystals, and a dream journal (from last monthās goddess box)!
Grow Something š±
Bring a beautiful plant into the world by starting an herb garden or planting some other little seeds. Iām currently working on cat grass and catnip! If you don’t have any seeds, no worries. Don’t go out to buy the materials right now! Maybe you could experiment with some leftover seeds or sprouts from some of your fruits and veggies.
Get Creative šØ
I am always taking on new creative projects. I just like trying new things. Sometimes I totally neglect them within a week, but I still get the sense of satisfaction knowing I tried a new skill. You can make a list of all the things youāve always wanted to learn or do. Give yourself permission to go for it!Ā I still need to try out the watercolor pencils I bought months ago! Currently, I’m working on bullet journaling skills, which were inspired by the amazing Quinn Bouley. She even sells some bullet journaling instant downloads on her etsy shop, so you can start journaling without even leaving your house! AMAZING.
Clean Your Linensāļø
When was the last time you washed your sheets? Be honest. More time at home means more hopping on and off of your bed throughout the day. Clean fluffy bed linens always make me feel like a better, more wholesome person.Ā
Make a Workspace š
Separate your work and āhomeā spacesāhonestly, I havenāt totally mastered this one, but I know itās key. If Iām working in my usual āchillā zones, I get so little done, and my cat thinks itās time to snuggle. Therefore I spend about 75% of my work time taking pictures of her sleepy, cute little face. Set up a desk or area for yourself to work in, and get more stuff done.Ā
***A classic example of what happens when I don’t
designate a workspace for myself.***
Declutter š
If you are anything like me, you hate (like huh-aaaate) cleaning. But recently, we started going through our closets and piling up items to throw out or donate. Itās so liberating to toss those unnecessary items, and regain clarity on whatās most important.
Goodbye high school after prom party T-shirt and dusty old lamps!Ā
Stop Guilting Yourself š
There are so many posts about quarantine right now that arenāt very helpful, especially those about productivity. Don’t let the internet guilt you. The truth is this: many of us don’t get the laundry done on schedule, many of us skip over a few little chores here and there, many of us forget to take the recycling or trash out on the correct day. IT HAPPENS. So stop being so hard on yourself. A friend shared this recently, and now Iām passing it onto you.
***I have no idea where this originated, but if I find out, I will credit! I found it here.***
Last, be thankful for the space you have. It can be so easy to forget how much we have when we become complacent. Thatās just how we humans are. If youāre looking to help someone in need during this time, consider donating to the cause in whatever way you are able.
